FIGURES published last week show that over a third of Welsh adults rarely or never walk anywhere.
Byron Davies AM, shadow minister for transport has commented by saying: “These figures lay bare the challenge in addressing Wales’ obesity timebomb, which threatens to cripple the Welsh NHS.
“The Welsh Labour Government should work with local authorities to make it easier for people to walk and cycle as part of a daily routine, instead of pursuing Labour’s characteristic nanny state attitude of telling people what to do.
“Active travel and safe routes to schools, hospitals and places of work are critical to restoring the health of the nation and enabling people to pursue healthy and active lifestyles.”
