PENARTH singing sensations ‘The Brooks’ are hoping to one day sell out the likes of Madison Square Garden after making it through the first stage of The X Factor.

In the space of a week the 15-year-old twins Kyle and Josh Brooks have gone from writing their own songs and studying for their GCSE’s, to receiving praise off media mogul Simon Cowell and appearing in national newspapers.

Just minutes after saying they enjoyed music from the likes of R’n’B star Chris Brown the man himself retweeted a short music clip of the young duo singing one of his songs on social media site twitter.

Millions of people have watched them on television, thousands of people are following them on twitter, and they have started being recognised in the street on a daily basis.

The duo said it had been a whirlwind few days since their appearance on X Factor over the weekend, as family, friends and teachers all congratulated them on wowing the judges and getting four yeses.

Stanwell School pupil Kyle said: “The reaction from people after that short clip has been phenomenal.

“We didn’t think from that from such a short clip, that wasn’t even a minute long, we would have 56,000 followers on twitter and 110,000 views on YouTube.”

During their appearance on the hit show all of the judges were impressed, with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini saying: “You’re so cute together. It’s unbelievable. A definite yes.”

About their first audition the twins said: “The comments we had from the judges were amazing.

“We got to hug Cheryl, which is almost every boys dream, and shake Simon Cowell’s hand too.”

Josh added that they were hoping to use X Factor as a platform for their future career.

“You meet artists that have been doing it for years in the music world and we are very lucky to have that big boost already,” he said.

“To sell out Madison Square Garden would be the dream.”

The duo, who started singing in church, have only been performing professionally for a couple of months.

“Church was always a place that gave us confidence to go up in front of a crowd and sing,” said Kyle

“JA Richards, who was also the pastor at Stanwell Road Baptist Church, started us singing and it all went from there.”

They were soon signed up by 191 Music Management and went on to perform at the Soccer Six celebrity football tournament in London, where they met the likes of singers James Arthur, Nicholas McDonald and Frankie Cocozza, as well as reality TV star Amy Childs.

“It was like a roller coaster and all happened so quickly,” said Josh.

Kyle added that they were hoping to make their Nan Colette proud after she gave up her job to care for them when they were just 18 months old. She now lives with them, and their nine-year-old brother Liam, in Penarth.

Colette, 59, said that she had been blown away by their success and it was all still sinking in.

“It’s just amazing and almost feels like a different life,” she said.

“One moment they are in their bedrooms practicing and the next they are performing in London.”

She added: “It’s been hard raising them as I’ve got older, but as long as they grow up as decent, kind and moral boys that will be the payback for me.”
