VOLUNTEER drivers are needed to continue running the East Vale Community Transport minibus for residents who use it. With a lack of drivers available the service, which has been running for 12 years, is under threat. The service enables residents of Llandough to go out on weekly shopping trips, to ensure they keep their independence, under the membership of the Community Council of EVCT’s scheme.
Unfortunately due to lack of volunteers this service is temporarily suspended as the group is finding it difficult to meet their needs due to insufficient numbers of drivers.
Another Penarth group, Byrd Crescent Over 55’s, has greatly benefitted from the service offered by EVCT since 2006. Now they face difficulties in getting volunteer drivers to assist them in attending their weekly social gatherings.
