TWO COUNCILS joined forces to offer free play sessions and a Family Dun Day to children in Dinas Powys during the summer holidays.

Outdoor Play Ranger sessions and a Family Fun Day, organised by the Vale Council’s Sports and Play Development Team and Dinas Powys Community Council, were held on the fields next to Murchfield Community Centre in the summer months.

Not even the poor weather could dampen the spirits of those who attended many of the sessions.

During the sessions children and families were able to experience a wide range of free play and sports activities together.

Funding for the activity sessions was provided by Dinas Powys Community Council.

Cllr Keith Hatton, vice chairman of the community council, said: “Working in Partnership with the Vale allowed children within in the village to have access to the resources and expertise provided by the Play Development Team. They were given the opportunity to experience a range of outdoor activities including den building, woodland crafts, sand and water play and large outdoor games.

“We look forward to joining forces again next year in another successful partnership.”

Joanne Jones, Play Development Officer for the Vale of Glamorgan Council who organised the activities, added: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Dinas Powys Community Council to offer play opportunities to children in the area. We hope we can continue working in partnership in the future to ensure that children in Dinas Powys have access to quality play opportunities.”
