X FACTOR singers The Brooks have made it through to the next stage of the hit show after performing the biggest gig of their lives.

The Brooks twins Kyle and Josh, who live in Penarth with their grandmother Colette, were the first act from Louis Walsh’s group category to perform in front of 6,000 people at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night’s episode of the hit show.

Before performing the producers made it clear that, because of their age, if Louis Walsh picked them to take a seat in the nail-biting ‘six chair challenge’ he would not be able to switch them.

The six chair challenge, where each judge has to choose their favourite acts after the Boot Camp stage and watching them perform again, ended up in a sing-off for Louis as he struggled to decide who to ditch.

Overcoming the nerves of performing in front of their biggest crowd ever The Brooks wowed the judges with their rendition of David Guetta’s Without You.

Josh Brooks, who attends Stanwell School with Kyle, said they were “overwhelmed” with the whole experience so far.

“I never dreamed that not only would we get through the auditions stages of the X Factor and perform at Wembley, but that we would get to go to the judges houses too,” he said.

“We are very happy.”

About the nerve-wracking thought of performing at Wembley the 15-year-old added: “It was crazy to perform in front of 6,000 people. The crowd were going wild and it was really fun.

“We were the first ones on so that was a big thing for us. We did panic for a bit, but we felt good about performing.”

Speaking about having Louis Walsh as a mentor in the Judge’s Houses stage he said: “Louis has been managing Westlife, JLS and loads of other successful bands. We are really excited about what we can learn from him.”

He added that since they first appeared on TV screens just a few weeks ago they had gained a new legion of fans: “We are getting asked for autographs with people following us on the street. It’s been pretty hectic.”
