PENARTH Town Mayor Councillor Martin Turner officially opened the town centre's newest retail attraction at Rowley’s The Jewellers on Glebe Street earlier this month.

A bustling crowd witnessed the Mayor cut the red ribbon and declare the new artist’s area open for business.

The Mayors said: “I am very pleased to see a new retail attraction opening in Penarth. In particular DesignerMakers@Rowley’s will showcase the work of very talented local artists and I wish you every success in the new designer maker area.”

Four artists who live and work in Penarth have their work for sale at DesignerMakers@Rowleys.

All the work featured is diverse and covers Stained and Fused Glass, Fine Art and Iconography.

Angelina Hall, a stained glass artist who specialises in landscape architectural pieces, said: “This new space is a real treat for Penarth. It is great to have our work available on the high street at affordable prices. Rowley’s have been fantastic in their encouragement and help in promoting our work.”

All the work offered is original and a bespoke service is available from all artists offering to work on a commission basis.

Cathy O’Doherty, a fused glass artist, said: “We are able to personalise all our creations and work with our customers to produce very special unique pieces.

“I originally started working with glass as I could not find anything different on the High Street to buy.”

Cathy makes a quirky collection of fused glass, bowls, coasters and wall art.
