X FACTOR singers The Brooks got into the Hallowe’en spirit by carving pumpkins at the Ty Hafan children’s hospice on Tuesday morning (October 28).

The popular teenage singers Kyle and Josh Brooks, who made it through to the judge’s houses stage of the talent show, popped into the Sully-based hospice to sign autographs and meet some of their biggest fans.

They were invited to the hospice by Ty Hafan representatives after taking part in a meet and greet session at Tiger Tiger nightclub in Cardiff.

Josh, 15, described the facilities at the children’s hospice as “amazing” and said: “We were a bit apprehensive beforehand but it’s a really happy place.

“There are some amazing facilities here. It’s such a lovely place.”

He added: “It keeps you grounded and makes you realise how much you should appreciate things in life.

“I didn’t expect to be so colourful and such a happy place to be in.

“Everyone is so positive and friendly.”

Shortly after the visit the Stanwell School pupils hit the road as they prepare to go on tour and perform in Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester, before headlining at the O2 arena in London on Sunday.

The twins are also working on their first single, which they hope to release in March next year.

Josh, who lives in Penarth with his twin Kyle, younger brother Liam and Nan Collette, said life had been “hectic” since their five minutes of fame on national television.

“There have been crowds everywhere we have gone,” he said.

“When we went to Nando’s the police had to be called in as so many people came into the St David’s Arcade 2 shopping centre.

“If we want to go there again we have to give them two days notice.”

Thanks to their new found fame the singing duo have also been backstage to meet The Vamps band, where they were given advice about their future careers.

Last week Year 11 pupils Kyle and Josh also gave a talk to Year 9 media students at Stanwell School about what life was like behind the scenes of the reality TV talent show The X Factor. They discussed issues of ownership and control in the media industry, as well as what it was like to meet Simon Cowell in the flesh.
