A PENARTH family are appealing for witnesses after they were involved in a three-car collision that caused thousands of pounds of damage.

The collision happened at the junction of Lavernock Road and Brockhill Rise, opposite the Glamorgan Golf Club, at 3.10pm on Tuesday, October 21.

One of the cars involved in the collision drove away before insurance details could be shared.

One woman, who did not want to be named, said: “There were three cars involved including our blue Citreon C1 and a 4x4.

“The car that caused the damage to both of us was a dark colour, black, blue or grey car, like a VW Golf, travelling from the Barry direction towards Penarth at 3.10pm.

"He swerved across the road right on the junction as if he was going to turn up Brockhill Drive.

“He hit the 4x4 in the front, bounced off that and hit me on the driver’s side front and wing.

“He came to a stop momentarily beside me and I noticed he was black, around 20, with dark rimmed glasses. I mouthed ‘what do you think you are doing?’, in complete disbelief.

“With that he reversed slightly then sped off up Lavernock Road, with a cloud of black smoke coming from the back making it difficult to see the number plate so consequently we did not get the number.

“If anyone sees a dark coloured small car (black/dark blue/dark grey) around with damage to passenger and driver side front wings, possibly with very pale blue paint mark on it, or anyone working in a car body shop/garage that has a car come in for repair with this damage, either call me on 07943526473 or call police quoting crime number 1400395102. A reward will be given.”
