TWO thoughtful Sully children have collected over 50 shoe boxes full of gifts for children in other countries that are less fortunate them themselves.

Brother and sister, Ruby, age eight and Oliver, age six, attend Sully Primary School and with the help of their friends have managed to collect 52 shoe boxes containing gifts.

The boxes will be passed to the Samaritans Purse shoe box appeal that will transport the boxes to countries around the world where they are needed and given to children age two to 14 years old.

Ruby said "I am looking forward to opening my presents on Christmas day but I felt sad when I read about children around the world who are not as fortunate as we are. We decided to organise our very own community shoe box send off so we can make sure as many children as possible have a box to open on Christmas day”

The boxes Ruby and Oliver have collected are destined for Zambia.

Ruby and Oliver also helped in a local packing and shipping centre to get the boxes checked and packed before they were dispatched to Zambia. The collection hub near Llantwit Major is manned by volunteers (like Ruby and Oliver) and will check, pack and ship over 25,000 boxes this Christmas.
