WELSH actor Craig Roberts brought the sparkle of the silver screen to the Ty Hafan children's hospice when he stopped by to join in with its annual Christmas pantomime.

The film and television star, best known amongst those at Ty Hafan for his roles in hit children’s show The Story Of Tracy Beaker and CBBC’s Young Dracula, dropped by to watch its Disney themed pantomime as part of the Hospice’s Precious Moments campaign.

Since landing a breakthrough title role in the 2010 feature film Submarine the actor, from Maesycwmmer in Caerphilly, has gone on to appear in teen drama Skins, BBC’s Casualty and feature films 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, Bad Neighbours with Zac Efron and Jason Segel, and Richard Ayoade’s The Double with Jessie Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska.

Now the international actor is calling on the public to contribute towards creating more special moments for children, especially during the festive season, after taking time out from his busy schedule to support Ty Hafan this Christmas.

Craig said: “The work that T? Hafan does is incredibly important. The staff and volunteers working at the children’s hospice do the most remarkable job to ensure that children and their families can celebrate Christmas with the care and the support that they need, and I am honoured to be here today.”

Craig has most recently finished work on his directorial debut Just Jim starring Emile Hirsch, which will be released in September 2015.

Meanwhile Ty Hafan wants people to talk about their own ‘precious moments’ through social media in the run up to the Christmas season and help continue providing support for life-limited children across South Wales in 2015.

Jenna Lewis, head of individual giving at Ty Hafan, said: “Life is all about those precious moments so we want people to think about their own most special memories and share them online.

“The support that Ty Hafan provides extends further than our hospice and is delivered in the family home, at hospital and in schools across Wales. Our hope is that the public will support our Christmas appeal so we can continue providing families with precious moments which they can cherish forever.”

It costs £3.7m a year to provide the charity’s state-of-the-art facilities at Sully and its support services to families out in the community. An individual donation of £23 would provide an hour of care and support to a child and his or her family, but the charity is urging people to donate what they feel able as the whole operation depends on the generosity of the public.
