A SCIENCE fiction fan that organised a Doctor Who themed event at the Penarth Pier Pavilion has raised more than £300 for charity.

Neil Goodman, who organised the "A Day in the Life of" event with the actress Louise Jameson, who is better known for her role as Leela, the companion to Tom Baker's fourth Doctor, has now decided to hold another Doctor Who themed event with one of the show's most infamous characters.

"The event was a massive success and was attended by more than 50 people, many of whom hadn’t been to the pavilion before,” said Neil Goodman.

“Everyone seemed to love it, with two people deciding to spend their birthday with us and one of them saying it was an excellent day and his best birthday ever.”

The one-off event was held at the Penarth Pier Pavilion on Sunday, August 10. All proceeds raised from the night are set to go towards Penarth Arts and Crafts Ltd, the charity that runs the Penarth Pier Pavilion.

Neil added: "This was a one off return to organising conventions.

"I was inspired by my favourite singer, Kate Bush, returning to the stage after 35 years, so I thought 15 years in comparison was nothing. However it was so successful and I have received such overwhelming feedback I have decided to do another 'one-off' this time with Simon Fisher-Becker, best known as Doctor Who's Dorium Maldova, aswell as starring in Harry Potter and currently in BBC 4's 'Puppy Love'.

"It will be a fun filled Doctor Who themed day, consisting of a Doctor Who quiz, charity raffle and dealer's stall.

"Two local Dr Who/Big Finish writers will also be in attendance to do a reading and answer questions, and Simon will present his one man show 'My Dalek has a puncture', all for the same price of just £12 adults, £8 children/concessions with no charge for autographs and limited to only 70 attendees".

The event will be held from 11.30am on Saturday, January 25.
