A KIND-HEARTED 11-year-old girl from Sully has donated toys to the children’s centre at University Hospital Llandough to thank them for her treatment.

Sully Primary School pupil Amelia Brenan was admitted to hospital four years ago and had minor surgery after experiencing abdominal problems.

She made a full recovery and her family have never forgotten the care she received from hospital staff.

Asked why she wanted to donate the toys, Amelia said: “I wanted to do something nice for the children in the centre at this time of year.

“So I asked the head teacher at my school if we could donate some of the gifts that weren’t able to be used at the school’s Christmas Fair to the centre where I’d had such good care.

“She agreed and I’m really happy to donate these today – I hope the children will have lots of fun with them.”

Mum Rachel added: “When Amelia was taken ill, we were worried and there were lots of tests before she was admitted.

“Once we came here to the centre at Llandough, all our worries disappeared as we could see she was being well cared for and, thankfully, she has recovered well.

“This gift is a small way of saying thank you.”

Senior play specialist Angela Smith said: “This is a really lovely gesture and we’re delighted to accept these gifts on behalf of the children and families in our care.”
