A DINAS Powys family have donated more than £700 to a local hospital as a thank you to staff who cared for their daughter.

Dinas Powys Primary School pupil Llily Foote spent nearly two weeks in the University Hospital Wales following surgery for peritonitis and a nasty kidney infection in November last year.

During a visit from her school's head teacher, Mrs Thompson, it was decided that money raised from the school during their Christmas concerts would be donated to the hospital's South Ward, where Lily was treated.

Lily's mum, Krista Foote, said: "An amazing £750 was raised by the infant school and Lily and I had the privilege of donating this to the hospital this week.

"It was a wonderful opportunity for us to be able to show our appreciation to the ward for their tireless work and wonderful care and attention shown to Lily.

"We, as a family, also felt touched by the kindness and generosity of parents and grandparents who raised such a substantial amount, especially so close to Christmas and for such a worthy cause."
