FAIRFIELD Primary School held a marvellous morning of music, poetry and even a little Celtic tribal chanting at their recent Eisteddfod.
Family members and the community came together in a colourful display of Welsh national dress, patriotic rugby shirts, leeks and daffodils proudly worn by all in the school.
Each class performed separately and the school teams, Dewi, Glyndwr and Llewellyn, competed to see which could outdo the other with rousing performances of Sosban Fach.
At the end visitors got to vote for their favourite performance and the delighted children of Glyndwr won.
Drinks and Welsh cakes made by parents and generously donated by Waitrose were enjoyed by the visitors.
The Lily Pad Flower School donated a beautiful raffle prize of freshly planted spring bulbs.
The school raised £150 for the PTA which all adds to the funds to be spent on enrichment resources for the school.
“It was truly special event” said head teacher Sian Lewis, “the children worked so hard and made amazing performances...the staff and I were very proud of them all.”
