Extracts from the Penarth Times of March 5, 1965:

Penarth Council is to introduce a double white line at Penarth Road from near the Cogan Pill roundabout around the corner to near the high wall above the Cardiff Corporation Waterworks undertaking.

Almost 400 members and guests attended the Dance held at Bindles Ballroom on Thursday last, in aid of UCTA Charities organised by the Ladies Committee of the Penarth and Barry Branch of the United Commercial Travellers' Association.

Members of Penarth Council are to be invited to meet a Glamorgan County Council sub-committee to discuss further the proposed road improvements involving the closure of Andrew Road, Cogan, at one end.

A Penarth man who gave up his job to sail across the Atlantic for a two month trip to the sunny West Indies celebrated his 21st birthday in Trinidad last Saturday.

Penarth Council have decided on three new street names for roads at present in course of development.

They are Robinswood Close to the new cul-de-sac development off Robinswood Crescent; Penlan Rise to the cul-de-sac at the site of Llandough House; Uppercliff Close to the new development at Uppercliff Penarth Head.

The annual general meeting of the Sully Ladies Bowling club (outdoors), was held at the Institute, on Wednesday evening of last week. A large number of the members attended.

Sully Football Club, playing their second friendly match lost to the very much experienced football team, Barry Dockers, Sully played well in the first half but by half time they were two goals down.

The WVS have started another venture in Penarth by extending their "Meals on Wheels" service - meals are now served on Tuesdays as well as Thursdays.

This was an impressive victory for Heath Park Rangers, even though for half the match they allowed Penarth YMCA to tempt them into dangerously casual play. On the other hand, so unchallenged was the Rangers' command of the afternoon, this was perhaps a luxury in which they were able to indulge.
