AN ELDERLY woman has been hit by a car on a zebra crossing in Sully.

The accident happened on South Road near the Post Office at around 10.15am this morning.

The woman was taken to the University Hospital of Wales by ambulance, but her condition is not yet known.

The collision happened between the junctions of Weston Avenue and Arlington Road.

Police closed South Road closed in both directions as emergency services dealt with the incident.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said there had been a collision between a car and a woman on a crossing near the post office. She added that it was reported to police at 10.15am and the woman had been taken to UHW.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We had a call at 10.16am to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Western Avenue in Sully. We responded with two emergency ambulances, and a woman was taken to the University Hospital of Wales.”

The road was closed at 11.24am, with long delays reported in the surrounding area.

Cardiff Bus also diverted buses in the area to go through Dinas Powys.
