TODAY marks exactly a year until the start of a six day trek across Costa Rica in aid of the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth.

There are still places left for the adventurous trek starting out from the Penarth based hospice on April 2, 2016, and returning on April 10

community fundraiser Karen Jones said

"If you are feeling really adventurous and looking for something different to do for next April you could join other local people supporting the Marie Curie Hospice Cardiff and the Vale by taking part in their trek to Costa Rica.

"This fantastic challenge will involve trekking through volcanic craters and the unique flora and fauna of Costa Rica. There will be the opportunity to take on zip wires and aerial walks around the rainforest and all of this will be to raise funds to benefit local patients with all terminal illnesses being cared for at the hospice in Penarth."

She added: "There are only five more places left and if you register now you would have a whole year to combine getting fit enough to take part and fundraising to reach the minimum sponsorship required.

"Those people that have already signed up have enjoyed meeting up with others from the group and sharing their training and fundraising tips.

"You will be made welcome and get lots of support from the local fundraising team based at the hospice whether you are signing up to do it alone or with some friends."
