A PUBLIC meeting over the future of Dinas Powys Library will be held on Monday, May 18.
Residents interested in finding out more and to discuss the options to ensure the library services continue in the community are invited.
The meeting has been organised by Dinas Powys Community Council and will be held at Murchfield Hall Sunnycroft Lane at 2.30pm.
Cllr Chris Franks, chair of the Community Council, said: “That there now appeared to be no alternative but to explore options for residents to play a greater role in the running of the library. The Community Council has submitted an ‘Expression of Interest’ with the Vale Council. Should it seem appropriate the Community Council will have to draft a Business Case to take matters further”.
Representative of the Vale Council will be present to answer questions.
There are major issues to consider in addition to the number of volunteers required, the financial implications and the management of any community based library. The potential building maintenance issues also need consideration.
The library celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and faces a crucial juncture. This is an opportunity for residents to help shape the future of library service for the future.
