THE new chairman of Llandough community council was elected at their annual meeting on May 6.

Pat Carreyett will replace Brian Hill with Roy Collier stepping into the role of vice chairman in place of Tony Muston.

Cllr Hill gave the annual chairman's report during which he tracked the progress of the council over the past year.

He recalled his installation as chairman in May 2014 and said he was very proud to represent the council at many other civic services.

There was also "significant progress" to report including the success of the village fete, Christmas decorations, the community transport scheme, the Corbett Road allotment site, working on Welsh language awareness and establishing links to local bodies such as the police, the hospital and the Vale council.

There was also a list of donations the council made to various charities and clubs throughout the year including the Alzheimer's society, LOL Llandough youth club,and the parish of Llandough with Leckwith amongst others.

Cllr Hill concluded by saying: "I would like to thank my fellow colleagues for their support in 2014 and 2015 and thank the caretakers for their excellent work in ensuring our local amenities are maintained in good condition and to the clerk for his help and support on council matters.

"I would also like to thank former Councillor Tony Muston for his support as vice-chairman and following his recent resignation wish him well for the future."
