A suggestion has been made that the proposed new multi-storey car park on the front should incorporate a fourth floor which could be used as a heliport.

The Civic Service to Mark the commencement of the year of office of the new chairman of Penarth Urban District Council will be held this year at Trinity Church.

Last Sunday, a party of Cadets from the Penarth Squadron of the Air Training Corps took part in a field exercise on the Brecon Beacons.

"Goodwill Day" was celebrated by a special service in morning assembly at the Grammar School on Tuesday.

This was the 44th occasion when the Goodwill Message of the Youth of Wales to the Youth of the World has been broadcast.

Members of Trinity, Penarth, and Dinas Powis Methodist Youth Clubs are to present the mime "Thirty-Eight Witnesses" at the annual display of the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs, at the Royal Albert Hall, London on Saturday, May 29.

There were 40 births and 69 deaths recorded in Penarth during the month of April. Of the births 22 were males and 18 females, and of the deaths 41 were males and 21 females. Fifty-three of the deaths occurred in hospitals or nursing homes in the area.

Penarth Operatic Society's Merry Widow, has been playing to packed houses throughout the week, at the Paget Rooms.

In addition to the enthusiastic support the Society always gets from Penarth audiences, there have been block bookings from other Amateur and Dramatics Societies, from Cardiff and district, and the valleys.

All sections of the club were active last week with the first cruiser and sea angling events adding to the dinghy activities. The inter-class dinghy team racing on Thursday, May 13, started in light airs, but on the third and last lap the wind dropped to zero and the race had to be abandoned.

Young Penarth swimmers were prominent amongst the winners at the Cardiff Civic Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Wales Empire Pool on Monday.
