TWO women who are raising money for the cystic fibrosis centre at Llandough hospital are about to set off on their sponsored walk from London to Brighton.

The pair will start their journey on Saturday, May 23 to raise funds for the Better Life appeal.

Ceri-Anne Wilkins, 31, from Sully and her friend Jackie Strawbridge, 30 from Penarth have so far raised over £3000 of their £10,000 target.

They were inspired to take on the challenge by their friend Beth Clarke, 33, who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at just 20 months old.

May is cystic fibrosis awareness month and Mrs Clarke along with her friends has set up a campaign called Bertha’s Army, to raise money for the ward and will be hosting fundraising events throughout the year

The idea is to raise the money to go towards renovating the centre in such a way as to prevent cross-infection particularly with extra beds and individual bathrooms.

Ceri-Anne and Jackie will aim to cover 100km in just 24 hours and have trained locally and even up Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons.
