Extracts from the Penarth Times of June 18, 1965:

Penarth claimed three awards, two OBE's and an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Large crowds enjoyed an interesting Whit Monday afternoon's entertainment at Penarth Athletic Field with a full and varied programme in the Penarth Gymkhana.

Morning Service on the Home Service of the BBC on Sunday, will be broadcast from Albert Road Methodist Church. The broadcast begins at 10.30am and all those who wish to attend are asked to be in their seats by 10 o'clock.

Plans are afoot by the Round Table to runs a Scalectrix racing track at which competitors can try their skill during the Penarth Holiday Week.

Showing considerable enterprise, the Penarth Round Table has purchased a large scale model with four racing cars.

Last Sunday was Choir Sunday at Tabernacle Chapel and as was fitting special attention was paid to choral items throughout the day.

The Penarth Rotary and Round Table Clubs met in a bowls friendly on Thursday evening of last week with 32 players taking part to make up four rinks.

A number of players were new to the game but nevertheless put up a commendable performance, and the game ended in a draw.

Over 100 members, leaders and adult helpers of Trinity, Methodist Youth, Albert Road Methodist Youth Club and Dinas Powis Methodist Youth Club travelled to London on Friday, May 28 for the Annual Weekend of the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs.

Main event of the weekend was the display at the Albert Hall featuring items from youth clubs all over Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Penarth, gaining the required win at the expense of the Cardiff Press - Howard Gardens side, have won their section of the WBA Carrurhers Shield competition and consequently enter the knockout part of the event.
