A PENARTH based property company have become the first in Wales to use a live streaming service for house viewings.

ACJ properties used the Periscope app to broadcast virtual tours for the convenience of prospective buyers and to make the selling process more transparent and change perceptions of estate agents.

The aim is to allow buyers to view properties from the comfort of their own homes or workplace and they can sign up for free via twitter or by providing their phone number.

The ‘ask a question’ function which will allow them to message our expert agents with questions about local schools, transport links and amenities along with any other queries they may not feel comfortable posing in person.

Tony Jones, Managing Director of ACJ Properties and Director for Wales of Association of Residential Letting Agents in Wales, said:

“Finding a home is very exciting, but we understand prospective buyers are time poor and that house-hunting can be time consuming. Choosing the right home is a life-changing decision, and it’s important that buyers have all the information they need to make an informed choice.

Sue Scott, Senior Sales Negotiator at ACJ Properties added:

"We don’t see this technology as replacing the personal viewing but see it as complementing the experience, making viewings more accessible. We hope that Periscope viewings will allow people to initially view a property from the comfort of their sofa or during their lunch break, and then arrange a second viewing in person if the property ticks their boxes. The app also allows an unlimited number of people to view a house at the same time – so a house hunter’s family and friends can also log in and share their opinions."

She went on to say how important transforming the reputation of the estate agency profession is to them and that they think harnessing technology to open up more doors to more people is part of that effort.

She said: "Let’s embrace new technology, but in order to improve the service we offer to vendors and buyers alike. We are really excited by the potential of Periscope to sell houses and look forward to seeing it develop over coming months.”
