THE NATIONAL Trust's trident trekker has now passed the halfway mark of his journey as he edged closer to Penarth.
Bob Smith has covered 352 miles along with volunteers since setting off from Flint in June and has made his way from Ceredigion into Pembrokeshire.
The Trident Trek is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the National Trust’s Neptune campaign, a people-powered initiative set up in 1965 to help protect the nation’s precious coastline.
The aim is to finish on August 5 after a series of summer seaside celebrations along the South Wales coast.
Bob summed up his efforts so far: “The past month has certainly been a huge challenge, but it’s been fascinating to witness first-hand all of the hard work that goes into protecting some of the beaches we all know and love.
There are some amazing untold stories about the volunteers that give up their time, and we want the Trek to be as much of a celebration of them as do for the miles and miles we’ve been able to protect through our work.”
