Extracts from the Penarth Times of September 3, 1965:

An insight into almost every aspect of life in the Air Arm of the Royal Navy was the interesting experience in store for 12 Penarth Sea Cadets last Tuesday.

The directors of Cardiff City have given the ground to the Welsh FA for the first Schools International, England versus Wales, to be played there on April 23 next year.

Local senior citizens will have an opportunity of getting answers to some of their problems at an "Open House," at Cogan OAP's Centre on September 10.

Old Penarthians commenced their season on Wednesday with a home game against Barry, and on Saturday (tomorrow) continue with a visit to Merthyr.

For the second week in succession Penarth fought back from behind to force a fine win. This time losing 2-0 with 20 minutes to go they scored four quick goals to snatch a dramatic victory.

Railway 'B' have reached the final of the four-a-side Morgave Cup knockout contest, organised by Cogan Coronation Club, and which was open to teams in the Penarth, Cardiff and Barry Darts League.

A cheque of £50 16s. was presented on behalf of the staff and boys of Bryn-y-don School, Dinas Powis, to the mayor of Rhondda, on Friday, towards the Cambrian Colliery Disaster Fund.

The Penarth Darby and Joan Club met at the Paget Rooms on Tuesday after their summer break.

There was a very good attendance, with the leader presiding, and the members enjoyed an excellent afternoon of music. A resident at Gardenhurst and is totally blind gave a piano solo "Indian Dance", which won her second place in an Eisteddfod for the blind at Pontypridd.

The high tides of this past week provided a wonderful spectacle for those in the village who walked down to the shore. Especially was this so on the Friday when, with a backing wind, the waves washed the foot of the low cliffs at Sully when the tide was at flood.
