DINAS bounced back from their poor performance against Chepstow the week before to register an emphatic 5-2 win.

This was particularly pleasing for manager Lee Saunders as four of his squad had made the transition from playing grass roots parks football last season to Welsh League standard.

The hosts started well and looked sharp. However the first free kick of the game went to the visitors taken by Brad Jones but it was a comfortable take for Dinas 'keeper James Curtin.

Dinas began to press and a Jamie McClaggon free kick was headed on target by Connor Caton but the 'Ceiber 'keeper James Seldon managed to hang on to it. James Marr then burst through the visitors' defence for a one on one with Seldon but his shot was off target.

Mamadu Banguraso and Ryan Garland linked up well to make progress down the right, Garland got a good cross in but a defender managed to get the better of Rhys Palmer as he was about to shoot.

On the 25-minute mark, after almost constant Dinas pressure, a cross from Banguraso was volleyed with a spectacular bicycle kick by Dinas striker Nicky Davison, his effort just clearing the crossbar.

The visitors had the occasional chance, a cross from Nathan Glassy found the head of Brandon Davies but his attempt was wide.

The Dinas pressure finally told after 30 minutes when Rhys Palmer played Davison in and he slotted the ball home from 10 yards for the opener. Palmer had to leave the field just after this as he was feeling unwell but was ok to continue after the magic sponge did its job.

The home teams passing was far superior enabling them to keep possession and when midfield dynamo Keiron James burst through on goal he was tripped by Seldon in the box, the referee pointing straight to the spot and up stepped Davison to place the ball right in the corner to grab his brace and double the Dinas tally with 10 minutes of the half still remaining.

He almost bagged his hat-trick when he connected with a good cross from Banguraso bur his powerful header was just over the bar.

Penrhiwceiber then had a promising move involving Nathan Glassy, Brad Jones and Kane Jones but the Dinas back four of Banguraso, Connor Caton, skipper Ben Luck and Jamie McClaggon were well in control and snuffed out any danger. The last action of the first half saw Davison again beat his marker but was harshly adjudged to have fouled him just as he was about to unleash another shot at goal.

The visitors made a change at the interval bringing on Declan Hensonspur for Brandon Davies who appeared to have an ankle injury. They did manage to rattle the Dinas crossbar early on courtesy of a Bleddyn House header but it was Dinas mainly calling the shots, a deep-cross-cum shot by Palmer forcing Seldon to concede a corner which was cleared but they soon won another corner, taken short by McClaggon to Banguraso who played it back to him, he put in a good cross which found the head of Marr for a fine glancing header to make it 3-0 just five minutes into the half.

The classy Davison then latched onto a corner from McClaggon wide on the left to smash it home for his hat-trick.

However, straight from the restart the visitors pulled one back, Dean Brown evading the Dinas defence for 4-1.

Then 15 minutes into the half Dinas made the first substitution, Nicky Coles replacing Garland. James then made one of his trademark jinking runs into the Ceiber box before he was dispossessed. Dinas then made two further changes Steffan Ross replacing Marr and Adam Johns making way for Nathan Donnelly.

The visitors began to rally and assert some pressure of their own, Brown latching onto a cross from the right but he shot wide and the same player put in a good free kick which Curtin gathered under pressure. The visitors kept up the pressure and were rewarded when an unlucky Ross sliced an attempted clearance into his own net for 4-2.

After Dinas began to get their passing game going again they lost possession and it was that man Brown who fired a good shot home but the lines-man's flag went up for offside and the score remained at 4-2.

Donnelly began to make his presence felt and a good flick from him put the prolific Davison through again but from a difficult angle his shot was just over the bar.

The final five minutes was frantic with the visitors still trying their hardest to get something from the game but it was that man Davison who bagged his fourth of the afternoon with the best goal of the game, making progress down the left, he then cut inside and unleashed a superb shot into the far corner of the net for 5-2. He almost got another in the final minute, heading a cross from Donnelly just over the bar.
