A NEW music festival is set to come to Penarth at the start of 2016.

The people behind the successful Glastobarry festival are bringing their talents to the town in the form of Penarth Rocks on Saturday, February 6.

Mack Events have built up a huge following over the last three years since they introduced the festival to Barry.

Cousins Ross Mackintosh and Matt Blumberg own the business and have family ties to Penarth.

They began their events by hosting a number of after dinner events with ex-professional footballers before launching Glastonbarry in 2013 at the town's Memo theatre.

They were also the subject of a "fly on the wall" documentary called "Waking up Barry".

In 2014, they moved the event outdoors for the summer and saw it grow quickly in popularity.

Their successful venture in Barry attracted 4000 people over the weekend this year and drew in crowds from as far a field as the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Ross Mackintosh said: "We are really excited to bring a new and exciting Music Festival to Penarth. We believe that with our experience,we can put on a great day and night of top class music.

We don't hold back on production and we go the extra mile to ensure our customers have the best time."

Acts include the UK's number one Ska tribute 2 Rude who will headline following a stand out performance in the summer.

Tributes to The Clash (London Calling) and Blur (Blurd) will join Led Zeppelin tribute The Hindenburg as well as The Flares will bring a range of genres to suit everyone.

Mr Mackintosh added: "We've always wanted to do this but we both hold down two full time jobs so it can be hard to juggle the two. We have some great acts and we have always wanted to do something in Penarth.

"We did not realise how big this would become and it has taken over our lives. We now want to develop young talent a provide a sell out show which suits all ages."

Tickets will be £15 and are available at www.penarthrocks.com.
