More than 50 candidates will be confirmed at St Peter's Church, Dinas Powys, by the bishop of Llandaff at 10am on Sunday, November 7.

The candidates who have been preparing for confirmation for some months, will make their first Communion immediately afterwards.

At last week's meeting of the Dinas Powis Old Folk's Welcome Club members were entertained by the Classique Ensemble to a varied programme of solos, duets, recitations and pianoforte solos.

Trinity Methodist Youth Club, has won a £10 prize for the tape recording which they entered in a competition run by the National Association of Youth Clubs and EMI Tape.

When HRH Princess Margaret comes to Penarth on October 27 to visit International House, she will travel to the town via Dinas Powis and Cogan and depart via Lavernock Road and Redlands Road.

Penarth is to get a gayer, festive look at Christmas, promises the new committee set up by Penarth Council in accord with the Chamber of trade, to bring home the true meaning of Christmas to both children and shoppers.

The coloured lights at the pier are to be erected across Windsor Road, and there is to be carol singing, with specially decorated and illuminated shop windows.

The Penarth Sash competition, organised by the Penarth Road Safety Committee, will be held next Saturday, October 16, starting at Victoria Schools, Cornerswell Road at 9am, and finishing about 1.30pm.

Penarth Youth fully deserved their narrow victory over their opponents from Pontyclun last Saturday. Torrential rain before the game made the pitch treacherous and no one expected to see such a keen battle in such atrocious conditions.
