Extracts from the Penarth Times of November 12, 1965:

A mammoth scheme for a recreation centre, covering 37 acres at Sully, is announced this week by the Distillers Company for its Sport and Social Club.

The plans include provision for all outdoor and indoor sports, and work starts this week on the first stage of the development which will provide one of the finest sports centres in South Wales.

Penarth Council's proposed multi-storey car park at the Esplanade could be a reality by 1967. On Monday, the Pier and Esplanade Committee were shown a model of the modern, streamlined building, which it is estimated would cosy £98,460.

Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Dinas Powys, celebrates its 180th anniversary with special services this Sunday, November 14.

The Film awaited so eagerly by most people, is however undoubtedly the Sully Documentary, which has covered the whole of Sully, every road and avenue, and which includes (through the medium of the Roving Candid Camera) - dozens of shots of Sully residents going about their usual duties and pursuits!

Some fine, intelligent rugby by Penarth Youth resulted in a convincing win over Pentyrch Youth at the Athletic Field on Saturday. In the first half they had the advantage of a strong north easterly wind and they used it with full effect.
