A PENARTH-BASED company has won a prestigious marketing award.

The Media Angel beat off competition from some of Wales’ biggest brands to be crowned winners at The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)’s Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards.

They were nominated following their work with Sully-based Ty Hafan Hospice through an extensive media campaign.

Director of The Media Angel, Alison Debono, was presented with the gong at the glittering ceremony for the execution of Ty Hafan’s Legacy campaign, created to raise funds for its priceless services to life-limited children – which went on to secure 300 per cent more donation pledges than expected.

Commenting on their award win Alison Debono, said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled and excited to have won a Canmol award for our work with our wonderful client Ty Hafan.

“I am so proud of this project, and of helping such a great organisation and important cause receive returns of over 300 per cent. We are delighted to have been rewarded recognition for our work; winning an excellence in marketing award across Wales is absolutely amazing. It’s wonderful to win an award for doing what we love.”

A panel of 11 business and marketing experts were responsible for selecting the winners under the chairmanship of Professor Deacon, South Wales Business School, University of South Wales and Trustee of CIM.

Prof Deacon said: “The Canmol awards are designed to celebrate the outstanding business results that have been achieved over the past year through innovative and creative marketing.

“The strength of this year’s winning campaigns demonstrates to me the wealth of marketing talent working within the sector in Wales today, a prospect that is hugely exciting for the future development of our industry. I’d like to congratulate all the winners and encourage them to continue working hard to set the benchmark for marketers across the country.”
