Extracts from the Penarth Times of November 19, 1965:

Although the total is not yet known it was announced on Tuesday that the Dinas Powys branch of the British legion has already received a record £143 from their Poppy Day collectors.

Last Sunday members of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Dinas Powis, celebrated the 180th anniversary of the erection of their first church building in the village.

The first church, erected in 1785, was an unpretentious building, erecting on a plot of land for which the rent was 2s. 6d. a year. It had a straw roof and a floor of lime and ashes, part of which exists today beneath the pulpit.

The Penarth Social Club has established a place in the community life of Penarth since it's formation in the early 1930's.

Ready help for charitable organisations has always been given to visitors to the town, many of whom return again and again.

Following the withdrawal of original opponents Pontypool United, Penarthians were fortunate enough to secure a visit from the powerful Bristol side, Bishopton, on Saturday last.
