Extracts from the Penarth Times of November 26, 1965:

An unusual sight at the Autumn Fair of the Commercial Travellers Association when bread was auctioned during the bakers' strike, it was not long before stocks were sold out. Run by the ladies of the Penarth and Barry branch, the record amount of £170 was raised, making this a 'best effort ever'.

After only 18 months' existence, the Old Penarthians Rugby Football club, who let the building to the Social Club. The Club started with 50 members of the Rugby Club and the membership is now almost 500.

Penarth YMCA plans to add considerably to its present range of activities and so put to full use the spacious accommodation for young men of the association at the town centre premises.

A Llandough resident would like to see a public meeting called to test public opinion over the proposed buying back of the land at Llandough where the old school, bombed during the war, once stood.

"The Penarth Poppets," a group of young entertainers, delighted the Senior Citizens of Penarth recently when they gave a concert at the Old Age Pensioners' Club.

The committee of the Penarth Music and Arts Club have "reluctantly come to the conclusion that the people of a Penarth have no interest whatsoever in recitals".

Penarth Youth stepped up a grade and still earned a deserved 3-3 draw against Cardiff Medicals 2nd XV on Saturday. In bad conditions the Youth pack played magnificently against far heavier and older players.

Sully made several team changes last Saturday when they played at home to Sea View Labour in the second division of the Barry League.
