YOUNG Writers have announced details of their latest national creative writing competition for primary and secondary school.
For five to seven-year-old, Superhero Adventures is the inspiration for young children. Young Writers have created a role paly activity and mask template, so pupils can get into character before writing their story.
For seven to 11-year-olds, Time-Travelling Tales is the theme. Writers will be challenged to write a mini saga, a story in just 100 words.
For secondary school students, Young Writers has Spine-Chillers. Students must write using tension, suspense and atmosphere and create a spine-chiller in just 100 words.
Each competition offers prizes for pupils and teachers as well as the opportunity to be published. Young Writers has been encouraging pupils to get writing poetry, short stories and mini sagas since 1991.
Last academic year's competitions were a great success and Young Writers is looking forward to announcing the school winners next year. (Pupil winners are announced upon publication and their prize is awarded at that time.)
