THE DAUGHTER of the last Miss Penarth is set to follow in her mother's footsteps by entering a renowned beauty pageant.

Erin White has been chosen to represent Cardiff in the Miss Teen Galaxy Wales final in February 2016.

Her mother, Laura White, was born and bred in Penarth and was crowned Miss Penarth in 1991, the last person to receive the title.

Mrs White was a beauty queen in the 1980s winning titles such as Miss Dyfed, Miss Llanelli, Miss Pontypridd, Miss Taff Ely, Miss Jacksons, Miss Brains, Welsh Model of the Year, Miss Beautiful Eyes, Miss International Tourism

and Miss Beautiful Smile amongst others.

She also represented Wales in the 1989 Miss Great Britain Final which is why she thinks it would be amazing if her daughter represented Wales at The Miss Teen Galaxy in Florida.

Mrs White is approaching her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband who is getting ready to support his daughter through the same journey.

In October, Erin was placed in the top 7 in the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain 2015 and won the Miss Congeniality award at her first ever pageant

She has recently been selected for the semi-final of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain for 2016 and she hopes to make it to the final again next year as she had such an "amazing time" at the 2015 final in Blackpool.

Erin gives her time to support local charities and raised £600 for the children's hospice charity Together for Short Lives this year

She also volunteers during her summer holidays at a charity holiday club for local children and has visited an orphanage in Morocco to take donations of toys and treats for the children there

Erin is sponsored by The Round Table and Rotary Club as she helps to support their fundraising.

Her mother said: "Sometimes mums can be jealous when their daughters are young and beautiful but that couldn't be further from the case.

"Beauty pageants are a little different today in that much more is expected of the girls in terms of fundraising and being positive role models an supporting their local communities.

"It is most definitely not just about being a pretty face. The girls who compete are also not stick thin anorexic models. They are fit healthy young women who take care of themselves to be good lifestyle role models.

"I am so proud of Erin and what she has achieved and what she will achieve in the future. If she won Miss Teen Galaxy Wales I would be the proudest mum in the galaxy. "

The family now live in Hertfordshire but hope to return to live in Cardiff soon.

Erin said: "I am honoured to represent Cardiff in the final. It is a real dream come true. Fingers crossed that I will bring The Teen Galaxy Wales crown to Cardiff.

"Entering beauty pageants is great for confidence and self-esteem and is a wonderful positive way to support local charities, make new friends from all over the country and to make a difference to your community."

Erin is currently studying hard for her GCSEs and she hopes to start her own business in the future.
