THE proposed strike by train drivers on Monday February 1 will no longer occur following an announcement from ASLEF, their representing union.
The union has taken part in lengthy negotiations with Arriva Trains Wales and will suspend its strike action and lifting the overtime ban presently in force.
A spokesman from Arriva Trains Wales said: “We welcome the suspension of the proposed strike action on Monday 1 February avoiding major travel disruption for our customers.
“We believe it is a positive step towards resolving this industrial dispute. The overtime ban has also been suspended.
“We are hopeful that the ASLEF Executive will endorse our proposed amended terms and conditions that we feel now address their previous concerns, when they meet early in February,” he added.
The executive committee of ASLEF will meet next month, where the matter will be considered once again.
