Following the success of last year's Penarth Holiday Week it has been decided to hold another from August 13-21.

Many new ideas will be incorporated in addition to retaining the successful events of last year.

A tough of the sun-drenched Continental holiday resorts came to Penarth on Monday with the opening of the town's first full-time, all-the-year-round travel agency.

Throughout the world, January 18 to 25 has been observed as the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Christians of all denominations in Penarth have joined together in prayer during this week at the various member churches of the Penarth Christian Council.

A new branch in the Cardiff SE Conservative Division has just been formed.

It is the Lower Penarth Ladies' Branch, and it will meet on the last Wednesday of each month at 10.30am at Wildwinds, Whitcliffe drive.

Sully Ladies Bowling Club are once again planning a repeat of the enjoyable outing they had some weeks age when they all went by coach for a dinner and social evening.

The role of a journalist on a weekly newspaper was outlined to members of All Saints' Church Women's Guild by the assistant editor of the Penarth Times.

With teams at the half-way mark in their league fixtures, most sides are now running into true form. The strong Railway A, with 14 points from ten matches, are now right behind leaders Conservative B, ready to take over should the top club falter.

With snow and ice causing the cancellation of fixtures for the last two weeks, players and officials of the Old Penarthians are keeping their fingers crossed in the hope that the improvement in the weather will be maintained sufficiently to enable Saturday's games to be played.

The Welsh indoor bowls international selectors provided some shock selections and omissions in their choice of the team to represent Wales at the indoor internationals at Glasgow in March.
