A FORMER Penarth school pupil who once painted a portrait of the Queen has unveiled his latest work.

Dan Llywelyn Hall, 35, who attended St Cyres Comprehensive School, revealed his portrait of the famous television actress Dame Barbara Windsor at the L'Escargot restaurant in London on Wednesday, April 27.

The event marked the announcement of an exhibition called 'Great Britons' coinciding with the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations and commemorating the centenary of the First World War during which Mr Hall painted a portrait of The Queen herself in 2014.

Dame Barbara Windsor was recently honoured at Buckingham Palace and is soon to make her last appearance on the television soap, Eastenders.

The exhibition will be on public display in London from May 9-15.

Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit Victoria Cross Trust and War Memorials Trust, two of the principle charities who attend to the war graves and national monuments of the First Woe

Great Britons will feature around 20 portraits made by Mr Hall over the past six years.

Among the portraits include new sitters such as Michael Palin, Dr John Cooper Clarke, Griff Rhys Jones, Lily Cole and other previously unseen paintings such as a companion portrait of The Queen that Mr Hall made during his sitting with the longest reigning British monarch.
