Penarth Council will give its wholehearted support to Penarth Operatic and Dramatic Society if it applies to Glamorgan County Council for planning permission to covert the disused St Paul's Church into a theatre.

A meeting of Penarth school teachers was recently held under the chairmanship of a member of the National Museum of Wales, to organise once more the Penarth Schools Exhibition.

A very enjoyable afternoons entertainment was provided on Tuesday, when the Newbridge Ladies Choir visited the Darby and Joan Club for the third time.

Three leading fashion shops in Penarth took their colourful collections to Dinas Powis last week to present a colourful fashion show for the members of Dinas Powis Golf Club.

There was a perfect day, with continuous sunshine for the Windsor Lawn Tennis Club, when they held their Opening Day last Saturday.

The co-operation between the local Air Training Corps and the RAF is emphasised by the number of courses held, for members of the Corps, at St Athan.

On Saturday, the Old Penarthians were engaged in the final matches of this winter's campaign; the Firsts gained a fine 11-6 victory, but the Second side went down 8-0.

Villa Wanderers made no mistake when they defeated Butts Rangers 7-1 in the replay of the Bon Accord Cup semi-final at Barry Sports Centre on Monday evening.

Penarth Youth put up a tremendous battle to beat Nelson Youth by the margin of two points in ideal conditions last Thursday. The big, powerful visiting pack dominated line-outs and scrims, but were outclassed by the lighter Penarth forwards in the loose.

Cogan Coronation thrashed Swan Stars by 8-3 at Cogan last Thursday to inflict the biggest defeat suffered by the Dinas Powis side in years. But Stars had their revenge at the Marl on Tuesday when they won the return fixture 5-1.
