I WAS proud to host the Young Epilepsy Champions Awards on May 18, and celebrate the achievements of those living with epilepsy, their families, carers, teachers and support networks.

The awards recognise those who are tirelessly fighting discrimination and facing the daily challenges that living with the condition can bring.

Young people with epilepsy deserve the best possible opportunities and support through life. These awards highlight the importance of creating a better understanding of the condition and, in turn, bring focus on the great work that is going on all across the UK.

The evening was a huge success and highlighted these individuals who are doing incredible things within the epilepsy community, they truly are champions. As vice president of Young Epilepsy I am amazed by the dedication of those working to support young people with this misunderstood condition.
