A FUN run was held in Penarth recently to raise more than £800 for a local charity.

Penarth Cytûn, the town's council of churches held the annual event at Cosmeston Country Park on Saturday, June 18 with the proceeds from the sponsored runners going to Penarth and District Lesotho Trust.

Despite the organiser of the past fifteen years, Keith Howells having recently had an operation, he and those who attended enjoyed the delights of the location and the lakes around which the participants ran.

As with all charity events it is the taking part that counts but it always becomes a race nevertheless with Tom Mecrou coming home first with the duo of Revd Kevin Davies and teenager Becca Berry from Capel Bethel in second and third places.

A spokesman for Penarth Cytun said it is the taking part that counts and a great time was had by all.

He added that more money was to come in later to help the children of Lesotho.
