AN OPEN top bus service which recently started operating in the Vale will be extended to Penarth.

The revised route for the B99 now runs between Barry Island seafront and Penarth town centre.

It will take visitors to the Knap, Barry Waterfront, Sully, Cosmeston Country Park and Lakes, Penarth Esplanade and Penarth Pier.

Instead of serving Barry Town Centre, the service will now call into the Barry Dock Railway Station park & ride car park adjacent to the dock office, linking the bus with rail services.

The service, which is commercially operated by Harton Coaches, runs on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holiday Mondays up until and including Sunday, September 4

Cllr Peter King, cabinet member for building services, highways and transportation, said: "The Vale of Glamorgan Council is delighted to announce the extension of this service to include Penarth.

"The service now opens up more of the Vale of Glamorgan to tourists and residents and the attractions they can enjoy."

The timetable for the new service is available at www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/transport.
