PENARTH Chamber Music Festival 2016 is heading to Penarth Pier Pavilion from July 14-17.

The opening concert on Thursday will feature music from Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn and will begin a 7.30pm.

Friday will feature two concerts, the first at 7pm will include the work of Dvorak and Janacek. Before the concert, Stephen Walsh will hold a talk at 6pm.

Then later on at 9.30pm will be the second concert featuring the music of Bartok, Kurtag and Ades.

Saturday morning will kick off with a fun concert for children.

Set sail from Penarth Pier – A musical journey around the world with Lenny Sayers will start at 10.30am.

There will be festival musicians and performers from Sully Primary School.

Children are invited to come dressed as a pirate, sailor or mermaid.

Then at 2pm will be a young musicians showcase featuring talented young musicians from Penarth and surrounding areas.

The last day of the festival will be jam-packed with entertainment.

Starting at 11am will be the morning concert with work from Poulenc, Ravel and Debussy. At 2pm will be festival classic – highlights from the festival performed in a supportive environment. At 4.30pm young musicians from Penarth and the surrounding areas will showcase their skills and finally at 6pm will be the closing concert at 6pm and will feature the work of Beethoven and Brahms.

Concert tickets cost from £10 and talks and events from £5. Free entry is available for young people aged 8-25, courtesy of the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust.
