RECORD crowds are expected for a music event in a Penarth park this weekend.

Belle Vue Music In The Park takes place on Sunday, July 10 and organisers say that they predict a larger attendance than ever after a series of "extremely successful" years.

The event is hosted by Friends of Belle Vue with support from local businesses including the main sponsor, Tailor Made Travel.

Bands and musicians will perform non-stop throughout the afternoon between 2-7pm at what has come to be recognised as one of the Vale of Glamorgan’s most successful annual music events.

This year’s line-up includes a wide selection of local talent to appeal to most music tastes and ages.

They include Happy Endings, Simon Buck, The Silverbacks, Graffiti, Lost in Chemistry, Smokey Smuthers And The Mellow Fellows, Charlie’s Marbles, Gentlemen Prefer Blonds, SOS and The Snorklers.

People are encouraged to bring their picnic rug or chairs and to arrive early to ensure a good place.

In addition to the music, there will be a variety of food and drink stalls and entertainment.

Martin Gossage, chairman of the Friends of Belle Vue Park said: "This is the highlight of the Belle Vue Park calendar and one of the highlights for Penarth too.

"It’s a fantastic afternoon for people of all ages and there’s always a super atmosphere with great music and plenty of other activities.

"Everyone is welcome and we appreciate all the support."
