There will be a short ceremony at the Parish Hall, Dinas Powys at 6.45pm next Monday, July 18, when the committee of the Ex-Girls' Club will officially hand over the clock they have installed in the hall to the Council.

A plan to extend and modernise the Penarth Athletic Club, providing new changing rooms, dining accommodation and seating stands, was welcomed by Penarth Council this week.

The 50th anniversary of the National Savings Movement in Penarth was doubly honoured, by the gift of a Wedgwood plaque to Penarth Council - and its presentation by the chancellor of the exchequer.

The Paget Rooms redecoration scheme, during Battle of Britain week, has made it necessary to arrange alternative dates for the Penarth Horticultural show. It has now been confirmed that the show will be held on Monday and Tuesday, September 26 and 27.

Consequently, ejector seats are an important part of Royal Air Force equipment and part of every Air Cadets training is to learn the basic facts about ejector seats.

The 70th anniversary of the RAOB Duke of Cambridge Lodge 338 is being celebrated by a dinner and dance at the Masonic Hall tonight.

Last Saturday, Penarth Cricket Club's 1st XI were hosts to the strong Monmouthshire side Newbridge and after heavy overnight rain the wicket was something of an unknown quantity.

Playing in the District 'C' semi-final of the Carruthers Shield competition against Cardiff at Sophia Gardens, Penarth Bowling Club trailed until the last but one wood of the game and finally clinched an excellent win with a measure for shot on the last end.
