SEA Sunday was celebrated with gusto on Sunday, July 10, in the former Church of St Lawrence at Lavernock.
The old building was decorated with a display of fishing nets, lobster pots and sea creatures, not to mention a sea-blue haze of fresh delphiniums, white lilies and gypsophila, plus maritime posters, lighthouses and yachts.
There were traditional hymns, scripture readings and poems with a flavour of the sea, together with some thoughts by the Revd Margaret Stark about the four great seas mentioned in the Bible.
Anne Thomas provided rousing accompaniment to the enthusiastic singing. The St Lawrence at Lavernock Trust would like to thank the Work Party for their very creative use of flowers and artefacts in decorating the former church, and also those who generously lent items for the display.
The next service will be held on Sunday, August 7 at 3pm marking St Lawrence’s Day.
