Extracts from the Penarth Times of September 16, 1966:

A full and memorable week of activity for St Augustine's Church marked the centenary commemoration with full congregations at the major festivals and services.

The floodlit church has been the centre of great activity and at each commemorative event there has been a combination of thanks for past achievements and blessings, and optimism for the future of the church.

The commanding officer of Penarth Air Training Corps is seeking permission for the local cadets to visit the British Aircraft Corporation's division at Filton.

If successful this could mean that the visitors would see the British parts of the Anglo-French Concorde, now being built at Filton.

A party of Penarth Sea Cadets were at Port Talbot last Saturday afternoon for the area families day of the Steel Company of Wales.

St Luke's Church are attempting a new style Harvest Social this year. Instead of a formal supper, there is going to be a barn dance and refreshments of the type usually associated with a ploughman' supper, such as cheese, pickles and bread.

The Llandough WI newly-formed drama group present their first one-act play on Monday evening. The play, Mrs Methuselah, was enthusiastically received.

Old Penarthians made the long journey to Cwmgwrach on Saturday last in fulfilment of their first regular fixture with the West Wales side.

Current holders of the Glamorgan County RFU Silver Ball Trophy, Cwmgwrach were, of course, victorious when the two sides last met in the semi-final of that tournament some three seasons ago and are undoubtedly worthy additions to the Old Boys' fixture list.

Penarth Athletic, fielding seven former Youth players, conceded the narrowest of possible defeats when they were beaten by one point by St Julian's HSOB at Newport on Saturday.
