A ROYAL visit is to take place in Penarth next week as part of the 60th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex will be at Stanwell School on Wednesday, September 28.

He will meet young award leaders, participants and staff.

There will be a presentation to schools in the area that have become directly licensed centres for the award as well as a team building exercise led by the young leaders.

It forms part of his visit to Wales which will also take him to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff for a music, drama and dance performance from Duke of Edinburgh Awards participants.

He will also arrive at Cardiff International White Water Centre aboard the Challenge Wales ship where he will meet local businesses, schools and youth organisations who will be taking on white water rafting and a high ropes course to complete their Diamond Challenges.
