THE town mayor held his civic service in Penarth last weekend.

Councillor Michael Cuddy's event took place at St Augustine’s Church on Sunday, October 16.

He was accompanied by his consort Lindsay Cuddy and the service, conducted by Revd Mark Jones, was attended by dignitaries including the lord lieutenant of south Glamorgan Morfudd A Meredith and the high sheriff of south Glamorgan, professor John Williams OBE.

Also in attendance were other Vale mayors, town and vale councillors, past town mayors, representatives of various local organisations and the town mayor’s nominated charities and family members and friends.

The service featured performances by singer Jodi Bird, harpist Huw Boucher, singer Barbara Whittingham and the choir, Sound Women.

Guests then made their way to a reception at the parish hall.

During the service there was an offertory for the town mayor’s nominated charities, Tros Gynnal Plant and Care and Repair in the Vale as well as the deputy mayor’s charity, Tools With a Mission.

The town mayor and consort said they would like to thank all who attended.

Town clerk, Emma Boylan said: "We were delighted to welcome townspeople and distinguished guests to recognise the town mayor.

"The civic service is a traditional fixture of the civic calendar during a year of significant new initiatives and developments for Penarth Town Council."
