A CHARITY wine tasting and lunch event in Penarth raised £175 to help disadvantaged young people and their families.

Tros Gynnal Plant held its first fundraising event as the town mayor's charity on Monday, October 10.

Organisers from the charity said it was a "very successful" wine tasting and lunch at The Windsor.

Those who attended tasted a wide variety of wines and learnt about where they are made and understood more about what flavours are evident in different wines before taking part in a quiz on the subject.

Karen Jones, fundraising manager with Tros Gynnal Plant used this opportunity to raise both awareness of the work that they do throughout Wales and much needed funds to increase these services and reach even more vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Restorative Approaches Family Engagement Project (RAFEP) is one such initiative that is currently working across the Vale of Glamorgan and can deliver free training to third sector practitioners or parents in a number of ways.

Their next local events include an afternoon at the Etc. restaurant on November 16 which will be canapés and cocktail making and on November 28 which will be a workshop run by ‘Brush with Beauty’ at The Kymin.
