VOLUNTEERS will be rolling up their sleeves later this month in an effort to clean up Penarth's Railway Walk.
The newly created Railway Walk Group will lead the clean up and will be assisted by Penarth Tourism and Visitor Association on Saturday November 19.
Along with the group's volunteers, they are hoping to attract more people to help them clean up the stretch from the top of Plymouth Road to Cosmeston Drive.
Volunteers will tackle the banks of the paths, removing branches, concrete and anything else that needs removing. Following the clean up, volunteers will then plant wildflower seeds, donated by Sustrans, which will reflect those that used to thrive along the old railway lines.
Members of the community will also be sowing these seeds along Sully terrace and volunteers are welcome to join this group as well.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has fully backed the event, with them pledging to work with the Railway Walk Group to maintain the area.
Volunteers, who will be provided with appropriate equipment on the day, should meet at 10.30amat the Sully Terrace/Archer Road junction of the walkway. If you have your own heavy duty gloves take them along.
For further information volunteers and interested parties can join the group on Facebook – Railway Path Project Penarth. Any last minute information can be found on there.
